Willowbrook Massage Academy was born out of the passion and commitment of it’s founder and instructor, Therri Wadel. Therri has been a Licensed Cosmetologist for 23 years and a Certified Massage therapist for 10 years. Living in Kansas, which is not a regulated state, she realized that the Massage industry in her area, was lacking the proper training and it became her mission to make sure that her clients received the best possible care, not only a relaxing massage with the best technique but one that would also benefit them to the fullest with the proper training and knowledge. Knowing that her state did not offer a licensing of any kind nor did it offer regulations toward any person practicing massage, Therri decided that she owed it to her Clients, Community and to herself to learn massage the correct way. In 2013 she enrolled in the Napa Valley School of Massage in Napa Valley California. She learned Restorative Massage, with Swedish and the Okazaki Massage Method along with Walking the Body, Medical Gymnastics, Hydrotherapy, and Anatomy and Physiology. She received her Certificate in Massage in January of 2014 and takes great pride in this accomplishment because it reflects her commitment to be educated and trained in a field that her state does not recognize. Through the years Therri has continued her education taking CEU courses and getting certificates in Reiki Level One, Bamboo Fusion, Migraines and Tension Headaches, TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), Sciatica, and the Lymphatic System. It is this passion for not only learning new Techniques in massage but also knowing that without the Correct knowledge of the Human body, how massage effects the body, mind, and sprit, and the contradictions of massage, that an untrained person or an improperly trained person has the ability to really hurt someone, this is why Therri chose to start Willowbrook Massage Academy.
“People are genuinely worth going the extra mile for and it is my responsibility to honor my craft, passion and commitmentby passing on my knowledge that I have gained in doing Massage to those who are willing to learn so as they can be the next keepers and protectors and continue on growing this field.” ~ Therri
